I was reading some threads on a forum I visit quite often, one of it the discussions was about advertising, and how it has become quite annoying, to tell the truth I have no problems with it because I use AdBlock in chrome and Firefox, so I didn't
knew know how bad it was until someone posted some screenshots. This are the ones:

When I didn't had have AdBlock this is how it looked |

I'm not against advertising, I know it could be useful for some people, but this is ridiculous, the problem though, wasn't the advertising (well, not the biggest problem), but that it was taking too much to load, and it happened in every page he opened. For me, the second image is fine, it can be annoying sometimes, specially when the advertising have sounds, but it doesn't take the whole webpage.
Oh well, thank programmers for this awesome add-on/extension, now if this could be applied to false advertising in real life I would be even happier, and that's because I went to a new cafe today, the problem was that it had written "Cafe Veracruzano" in some place, and so, I thought that they sold that kind of coffee there, but they didn't, it was only American coffee and cake for dessert, well, my friend who went with me there and I didn't mind it , we wanted to go there for some time since it looked kinda interesting, small but interesting (it is inside of plaza Rio Grande), now there is one more place checked in our list XD, we had an awesome evening, and I was (and still am) very happy to spend it with her.
Yes, advertising can be pretty annoying...but it's necessary.
ReplyDeleteI already uninstalled my ad blocking extension I had for Chrome, cause at the site that I work at, we also have advertising, and I also have to develop for the advertising to be there, so I don't want to have to be enabling/disabling everytime I'm at work or at my house. I actually don't mind advertising at all, just like TV commercials (when I watched TV), I just automatically block them out.
But yeah, if you're going to have advertising, have it load after the rest of the page, and if possible don't interfere with the flow of the page...we know they're trying to make the users click it, but for those of use that will not, it just makes for a terrible user experience...and I'm done with this comment, haha.
Whoa, some coherence in that last comment, oh well, you know what I'm trying to say
ReplyDeleteAlso, remember that when you say/write "didn't", the verb that follows it goes in present tense, cause you already made it past with the "did". Like "didn't have" instead of "didn't had", or "didn't know" instead of "didn't knew". Haha, this seems like a cold comment, but I know he won't mind, and I don't mean it offensively, just helping out :)
ReplyDeleteyeah, ads don't usually bother me, except on youtube or other videos. I am trying to watch a video, and you get banners on it! wtf? And cool, glad you had a good evening out at the cafe!
ReplyDelete@Sergio thanks dude XD, you know that I really appreciate that kind of things, I understand English pretty well when I read and hear it (unless the accent sucks :P), but since I have not that much experience talking/writing it I screw sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to double check it because I wanted to go to sleep early, but that wasn't a good idea, I'm already awake (3:44 a.m.) lol, well I will try to sleep a little more.
On topic, you can configure AdBlock to not run in certain sites/domains, I actually have it not running in some sites I support.
And as I said, I have no problems with advertising, but since it mostly showed me mmo's advertising I had to disable it (most of them have sounds, voices and music that can be annoying, specially when you have many tabs open) and I don't want to be pausing or disabling them manually every time I visit certain websites.
i hate ads with a passion, as a very visual person they really cloud my view of everything :(
ReplyDeleteI'm with Chuy on this one.. it's the youtube ads that really annoy me, the rest I can deal with (well unless they do make the pages take longer to load).
