So, our ISP has been sucking this week, not because the Internet has been bad or anything, but because early this week my mom received a call from Telmex and they told us that we were going to have an upgrade in our Internet speed, the odd thing was that supposedly we had a 1 Mb connection, but our service should be a 2 Mb connection (since my mom doesn't know much about it she didn't knew how much we had), but one thing that Telmex has is that it upgrades the connection from time to time, so we had the equivalent to a 4 Mb connection (our download speed was like 400KB/s).
Ok, so my mom received the call and was told that the "upgrade" would happen within this week or the next one, I have been testing our speed through the week and it decreased from 400KB/s to a 100KB/s and then it increased to 200KB/s, that really sucks. I called tech support this Friday and I was told that they are still working things, but maybe next week it will be done.
This Saturday my mom and I went to change our modem since it was too old and was sucking from time to time, while we were there I asked about the speed and the person who attended us told us that in some sectors they were going to increase the speed, to the ones who had 1Mb it would be 2Mb, to the ones who had 2Mb it would be 4Mb or 5Mb (he wasn't sure about this one) and to the ones that had 4Mb it would be 10Mb, so tomorrow I will (if I remember) call again to see whats going on :P

I think my speed got upgraded to 5 or 6 mbps, totally unexpected but very welcome :).
ReplyDeletewhat? companies upgrade you without charging more?! what are you socialists?! :P
ReplyDeletethat does sound crazy! Free upgrades! Ours is supposedly 20Mb, but it doesn't feel that fast...esp late at night, when i suspect they are doing maintenance.
ReplyDeleteWell, to be fair, they're only upgrading us to a speed more "accordingly" to what we're paying. Cause internet in México is very expensive compared to that of the US, or Europe or lots of Asian countries. México has always been like 20 steps behind when it comes to internet speed, so it's only fair to not charge us more when they want to play catch up to other countries "standards".
ReplyDeletewtffff! Man, i need to upgrade to cable. my internet is super slow. like 1.5mb!
ReplyDeleteo.O just 1.5Mb? No wonder it took you so long to download L4D2 the other day.
