Advertising

I was reading some threads on a forum I visit quite often, one of it the discussions was about advertising, and how it has become quite annoying, to tell the truth I have no problems with it because I use AdBlock in chrome and Firefox, so I didn't knew know how bad it was until someone posted some screenshots. This are the ones:

This is how I normally see the main page of the forum

When I didn't had have AdBlock this is how it looked

And this is how it looks now supposedly
I'm not against advertising, I know it could be useful for some people, but this is ridiculous, the problem though, wasn't the advertising (well, not the biggest problem), but that it was taking too much to load, and it happened in every page he opened. For me, the second image is fine, it can be annoying sometimes, specially when the advertising have sounds, but it doesn't take the whole webpage.

Oh well, thank programmers for this awesome add-on/extension, now if this could be applied to false advertising in real life I would be even happier, and that's because I went to a new cafe today, the problem was that it had written "Cafe Veracruzano" in some place, and so, I thought that they sold that kind of coffee there, but they didn't, it was only American coffee and cake for dessert, well, my friend who went with me there and I didn't mind it , we wanted to go there for some time since it looked kinda interesting, small but interesting (it is inside of plaza Rio Grande), now there is one more place checked in our list XD, we had an awesome evening, and I was (and still am) very happy to spend it with her.

Juarez

This city is no longer what it was, I remember that back in the day, the end of the city was near what is now known as "plaza las torres", my dad worked in "Berg Electronics" now known as Scientific Atlanta not far from "las torres", one day I wen't with him (I don't remember why though) and it was the end of the world there. There was nothing more than wasteland, well, as things are right now, it is very populated in that zone.

Today I had to go to CAPSIC (an institution I have been working from time to time, associated to the college of psychologist) to get some things, my dad gave me a ride but he had to go to another place first. Well, I told him how I knew he could get there, but since the place he had to go was on the other side of the road he took another way, I don't know the city as good as he and trusted him that he would get there with no problem.

Ok, so in this map C is my house, A is the place I wanted to go and the trail from A to C is the road I always take when I go alone (a.k.a. in the bus), D is the point where I realize where I was and somewhere near the place my dad had to go.

To explain a little, I have only gotten to point A from were B is supposed to be or from C (since it is the easiest way using the bus), my stop was in Jupiter avenue, just before a bridge. I never got to the other side of the bridge, and so I didn't knew what was there, until today, but I got from the other side. The reason I didn't realize where I was was because that bridge wasn't there last time I wen't near there, when I saw it from the other side I didn't noticed either until I saw an old building called "valentinos", this is the avenue we took to go to El Paso, but it was so changed.

Well, my dad crossed the bridge and I saw a signboard that had written "Jupiter" and I was like WFT? I never realized that I was so close to there, I thought it was a place far away from what I knew, but after crossing that bridge it changed my perspective. But how would I think of that possibility, the place I have been going was new to me, but now I know that it is where the old cotton fields were.

I had not been there in many years, and this city is not what I remember :P

On another note, I found this in a certain website I visit from time to time:
It is obviously a bug, but the queue can go as far as 1 week from what I heard :P

Bad contact

Some days ago I had a little accident with my laptop charger, one of my sisters accidentally pulled it and it began to malfunction, at first I only needed to move it a little and it would work again, but today it just gave up. It would not work in any position I put it. At first I thought of buying a new one and started to look for prices over the internet to have an Idea of how much I would have to spend in it, but then I realized that it only was a bad contact, it wasn't an internal component from the charger, just the cables.

And so, I decided to repair it, looked for the place were the cable was busted and cut it. I took some plastic from it to tie the cables and isolated both of them from each other making sure they didn't have any contact and taped it. It worked really good and I didn't had to spend money in a new charger.

To celebrate (not really, I just wanted to make some :P) I made a strawberry and mango smoothie, it was damn good and refreshing.

TF2 F2P

So, some week ago Steam started to give support to Free to Play games, I wasn't too excited about it, most of them were MMORPG's and I didn't want to play any of those. They released 4 games at first, none of which I was interested in, but last week they made available a game from their repertoire for free, so anyone who has a Steam account has access to this game.

It was Team Fortress 2, an online FPS that, from what I have heard, is awesome, it has been around since 2007 and people still play it. So, I download it and, even though I haven't had that much time, start to play it, I have been in offline mode (a.k.a. training mode) to get a hold of the game, and I can say that it really is entertaining and can be addictive. Well, 2 hours in almost a week, i'm still not addicted to it :P

On another note, it seems that it was raining for a moment a few minutes ago, it smells like wet sand.

Speedtest

So, our ISP has been sucking this week, not because the Internet has been bad or anything, but because early this week my mom received a call from Telmex and they told us that we were going to have an upgrade in our Internet speed, the odd thing was that supposedly we had a 1 Mb connection, but our service should be a 2 Mb connection (since my mom doesn't know much about it she didn't knew how much we had), but one thing that Telmex has is that it upgrades the connection from time to time, so we had the equivalent to a 4 Mb connection (our download speed was like 400KB/s).

Ok, so my mom received the call and was told that the "upgrade" would happen within this week or the next one, I have been testing our speed through the week and it decreased from 400KB/s to a 100KB/s and then it increased to 200KB/s, that really sucks. I called tech support this Friday and I was told that they are still working things, but maybe next week it will be done.

This Saturday my mom and I went to change our modem since it was too old and was sucking from time to time, while we were there I asked about the speed and the person who attended us told us that in some sectors they were going to increase the speed, to the ones who had 1Mb it would be 2Mb, to the ones who had 2Mb it would be 4Mb or 5Mb (he wasn't sure about this one) and to the ones that had 4Mb it would be 10Mb, so tomorrow I will (if I remember) call again to see whats going on :P

:|

I was thinking that I have not shaved my "mustache" or "beard" for more than a month... and even though I don't care that much (well obviously I do care :P), it sucks because it looks (for most people) like a one week (or less) growth. Well less work for me, though I have to shave the cheeks because I have some random hairs in there :/

Well, at least my hair does grow quick :P

If I do not shave for like 3 months I would still have less facial hair than Sheldon :P

Computer failure #2

So, I decided to re-install Ubuntu since it has been running a little too slow and I wanted to re-size my partitions while I was at it. I insert the CD, restart my computer, change the booting order to CD first and... it doesn't read it, I boot windows to see if the disk was ok (it doesn't look like is damaged), and it does not read it, after some tries I decide to use another CD and it doesn't read it either, I tried with some audio CDs and movie DVDs and nothing.

I haven't used my CD-ROM for quite a wile, I only used it to install Windows or Linux, but nothing more, well, no problem, I only had to learn how to boot from a USB flash drive, which I already wanted to do, it is more reliable and economic than using CDs/DVDs.

And since I'm already doing this i'll do it with Windows too to see how fast it is :P
After this I was thinking of buying an external DVD burner, but since I almost never used it I see no purpose in buying one.

Intelligent Design...

...my laptop has not been blessed by it. Today it turned off 2 times because of overheating, the hard drive was overheating because of the high temperature here, and because it doesn't have a proper ventilation system. I had to open the back of my laptop where the HDD is located so a cooling mat would lower the temperature. It did the trick, but I don't like to use it all the time, specially if i'm on my bed :(

The worst part is that I wasn't even doing anything heavy on the computer when this happened (and by that I mean playing :P)

Trolling...

While reading some articles in keelynet.com I found about this shirt design
I really don't like trolls, but I must accept that this was pretty funny when I read it, even though trolls by definition are people who only wants to provoke the readers there are some that are pretty cleaver in what they do, and funny too.

On another note I found this video of a robot arm drawing a face, but this one is different than usual, at least for what I have seen.

A blast from the past!!

Last week I had to go help my mom bring some things from her work (she works in a school which is just next block), while I was waiting there I noticed many kids buying things from a guy with a cart, at first I didn't care, I haven't bought anything like that for many many years, and I wasn't craving for anything at the moment. When my mom came out she asked me to buy her a "nieve de garrafa", and one for me if I wanted.

I wasn't too interested at first, but since the heat was killing me I bought one for me too, it was mango flavor. I didn't ate any till I got home because I had my hands occupied, but from the first taste to the last I enjoyed it.

Man meets steel...

...and man lost the battle.

As I stated a few days ago, I prepared some sushi today, I made first the one my sisters friend asked for, then had to do some other things before preparing my fathers sushi. Everything was fine, I got home in time to prepare it before my dad came home.

Sushi ftw

And so, I started to prepare the ingredients for the sushi and while I was cutting some mango (Mango with chipotle ftw) I cut my finger... that sucked, even though I bandaged it I was unable to even try to handle the rice. Luckily my mom lend me a hand, she had never prepared sushi, but she helped me with the things I was unable to do, which was putting the rice in the seaweed, we finish it in time, I only needed to cut it. Then it happened again, I cut another finger, this time the wound was a lot smaller, but it was annoying, I feel crippled with these wounds in my hand.

It wasn't too deep but I was bleeding hard :P
This one was only a scratch
Well, the good note is that my sisters friends really liked it, she said that they devoured it. As well as my father did with his sushi. And that my knifes are still very very sharp.

Fathers Day

Today we "celebrated" fathers day, it wasn't anything big, and actually I didn't do anything special for him this year, though, I will prepare sushi for him tomorrow (along with the one I was supposed to prepare for this Friday, my sisters friend changed the date for this Monday) since my mom and sisters prepared food for him (and a cake :P).

We had a good time, though we did nothing uncommon, at least not to us :P, we always do things like these (except for the cake), we had a good time.

I really love my father, he is partly responsible for what I am today, the good and the bad sides of me, thanks to his ways I learned to be independent since I was little, to look for things for myself and question everything and everyone. Though, he never taught me anything, nor helped me with anything at all, at least not directly, he always forced me to do things by myself, and thanks to that I am able to do most things that I wan't by myself.

So, thanks dad for being the moron (in a non offensive way, that's how my dad and I get along) I have always loved XD

I lost my phone...

...on my way to my room, I really can't remember where I left it, but it has to be in a place between the living room and my bed, but I'm too tired to go and look for it, I left early in the morning and got home past 10:00 in the night.

On another note I finally had the chance to listen to Judgement Day's "Peacocks / Pink Monsters" album, I really liked it, I was looking for some new bands to listen and I remembered this one from Sergio's car collection XD

So tired...

This week has been work, work, work all day since Thursday, I feel tired, specially since I haven't been sleeping well, nor eating properly. I finally finished my course today and it was amazing, I had to do another presentation solo and another in a two person team. Both were hundreds of times better than what I did yesterday, and some colleges said that I made a pretty good impression in both presentations, that I was completely different to yesterday XD, still I was a little nervous in one of the presentations because our instructor filmed us.

After that I came home and had to finish to clean a computer, since it is a little old I had to browse for the drivers, but it was quick and easy, restored the backed up data that the owner had there, since it had some business documents, family photos and some more things.

Tomorrow will be another long day, in the morning I'm going to the owners house to give her the computer and finish my work, I need to just copy the data of the old computer into the new one and install some software in it, I already installed the basics the other day, so it won't be too much work. And still waiting for confirmation of another meeting.

Presentations

Today was the first of the two day course I said I was going to have, since the course is to form new instructors we had to present ourselves in front of the group, it have been so much time since I had to make a presentation about anything, last was my thesis back in 2009, and since then, nothing.

When I got into college I was pretty bad at doing presentations and expositions, I got nervous most of the times, but little by little I got better at it. And it was much more easier doing it with people I knew, but even when there was no one around I was still good. Most of the times I had good reviews from my teachers and classmates, and the usual "you talk to fast" and a problem with my voice, but other than that, it was good.

But today, it was awful, and to make things worse, I (and my classmates) was filmed, I was so damn nervous, I lost my breath, forgot what I was going to talk about, talked to low... I sucked. Like mid course we had to do another presentation, but this time I had more time to prepare, and I even helped some friends making their presentations (we used power point as visual aid).

This time, it was fucking awesome, I even got to improvise in this presentation since my subject was too short  and I had a time limit, neither too short nor too long. Still I had some minor errors, but it was so different than the other one. I still feel nervous when there is new people around, but most of the times I get along with them, but when I have to get in front of people... I freak out. I know this isn't going to be easy, but I wan't to get rid of this anxiety.

I'm falling sleep, so I will stop right here :P

Into the woods...

Today I had to upgrade a laptop and backup another one (and pass all the data to a new one this Friday), I am officially the tech guy in this association i'm in, so when a member has a problem with a computer they call me, they pay, so I have no problem with that :P

It took me more time than what I thought it would be, since the laptop is used for school, and the owner studies graphics design, it had way to many files, I had to back up almost 100GB and it was taking a lot of time to copy them over my external HDD, and since the computer was in pretty bad shape it was slow, and I mean slooooooooooow!!.

When I realized that this was going to take much more time than I thought I decided to watch something, it had been a long time since I watched a musical (not that I have watched that many), and since I had read something about Into the woods, I decided to watch it.

The plot combines 4 fairy tales, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red-Riding Hood and Rapunzel, and the story of a poor baker and his wife who wanted to have child, but for some curse, they can't. I have not laugh so hard in weeks, maybe months, I won't get much into details, but what I loved the most is that the first act finishes with "They lived happily after" and then they proceed to tell you what happens next.

Really a good story, something worth watching again if the occasion warrants it.

Round 2, Fight!!

As I wrote yesterday, I had a little discussion over Facebook about religion, I thought it was over, but this afternoon another guy tried to continue with the discussion by saying that the death of John Lennon and the sinking of the Titanic were proof of gods existence, he also said that the only reason Darwin became an atheist was because his daughter wasn't saved, I literally face-palmed when I read this, it is the most retarded thing I have read in a long time, I didn't wanted to continue with this, but I wrote back with some facts about these incidents, and the only response I get is this "los ateos tienen mas fe que uno " and "dime si los ateos no son nada", by the time I came back my ex-teacher had already deleted the post, and I wasn't able to continue, not that I wanted, it was worse than yelling at a wall.

On an unrelated note, I just noticed that I haven't turned off my DS for like 3 or 4 days, I have been playing The World Ends With You again, and since the game has a system that let's you evolve some items with either fighting in game or when you turn it on (the longer the system is off, the more experience you get), I have right now some items that evolve with battle experience and I want them evolved :P.

In Soviet Russia job finds you...

So, out of nowhere I got a little job for this weekend... (and I just realized that I have a course this weekend, I don't know if I am going to have time), a friend of my sister wants me to make some sushi for a reunion they are going to have this Friday, I didn't knew my sister recommended me lol, specially because she doesn't like sushi XD. But I can't complain, money for something I like to do, cool.

On another note, I had my first Facebook religious debate, an ex-teacher likes to link atheist videos and sometimes religious persons make comments, most of the times I don't care, but this time something snapped, this guy wrote, and I'm quoting:
"yo digo cuando uno dice que no cree en Dios, de alguna forma, si lo hace, cree en el no creyendo en el, me explico?"

By the time I realized I had already wrote something and I wasn't going to post it, but I felt that if I deleted what I wrote I would regret it more than what I knew I would regret posting it, it was a lose lose situation, not because I didn't mean what I wrote, but because I knew that whatever I wrote would not matter, if someone supported me, then there was no need for me to write it, if someone was against me then there was no need because I would be ignored.

There were just 3 persons in the discussion, me, another atheist and the religious guy, funny thing, both of them were named Jesus XD. And as I see it, we won, there was nothing to discuss and at the end we just wrote names of musicians/bands that the other atheist said were the real representation of god.

Well, it was fun reading what this religious person wrote, I never thought I would get in a fight like this over Facebook :P

Youtube suggestions...

Nothing big happened this day, I spent almost all my day reading and watching some tutorials and working in my cave (now my parents other house is officially my cave :P). But while watching one video in particular I noted that between the suggestions was something that has nothing to do with it.

I mean, how something like that could happen? It is one of the most weird things I have ever seen in youtube, jQuery has anything to do with breastfeeding, or am I missing something here :P?

On another note, I finally had the opportunity of watching the movie "The good, the bad and the ugly", well I didn't finish it, I was watching it a few minutes ago, but I was falling sleep, I'll finish it tomorrow when I am not falling sleep every five minutes.
Today Mari, Sergio, Cesar (yay, I got it right this time :P) and I played poker in Sergio's house and then we went to play pool, it was an awesome day even though I suck at both. While we were at Sergio's house there were also his family and his aunts. When we were there it was noisy, but it wasn't annoying, I liked how things were there.

I don't remember if I mentioned this, but I don't have any family here other than my parents and my brother and sisters, and I love it this way, we are really close even if we sometimes can't stand each other. I know most of my immediate family, I have seen them at least once in my life, but I have never been close to them, to the point where I have not visited any of my family for the last 8 years. And I don't regret not doing it, as far as I know both sides of my family are somewhat broken, and for what I have heard most of the problems were because of money and properties, well not the point here, since we are too far away from that it was never a problem to us what they do.

At one time Sergio's mom and aunts were asking us things, many things, about the time Sergio and I lived together, about me working in Datamark (I think it was Margarita), about my career, my nickname (because Sergio just decided that all of his family should call me tenampa :P, luckily he now is known as sky too), Mari's mom saying that she knows me better for my posts in Facebook than in person, it really felt weird at first because I am not accustomed to this kind of things, this many people together at the same time, so many questions, but I liked it.

Sometime later we were playing Texas Hold em, first time for me, I never played card games (well some time ago I played Magic the Gathering, but that doesn't count jeje, and I never liked it so much), so I sucked at it, but at least I won against Mari a couple of times :P (please don't hold a grudge against me XD) even though, I was the first to lose everything. But it was funny.

Well, to not make this post larger than it already is I want to say that I really enjoyed this day and having the opportunity to share some time with you guys and your families.

Facebook Drama :/

As you saw, today I uploaded a Photoshop I did of Sergio, I did this as a matter of laugh, not to ridicule him or anything (I actually asked him if it was ok to do it), well, the image you see isn't the first I uploaded, I did it one hour before the one you can see in Facebook.

I had to delete the other one because 2 guys were making post that had the intention of insult Sergio, and I know he didn't care, and neither did I, but I was annoyed and disappointed with their behavior, I didn't want to have an image that was supposed to make you laugh full of insults and shit. After they stopped posting I deleted the image and removed them from Facebook.

I didn't delete them before out of respect because they were once my friends, but that was a long time ago, our "friendship" has been going down hill for the last couple of years to the point were it was annoying being near them, well not annoying, but it wasn't enjoyable, and when you no longer enjoy being with someone it is time to move on. And it wasn't just "I just don't feel good with you, so goodbye", no, we tried to mend things, to have better communication, we tried many things, but in the end it was all in vain.

Well, today was the end of that relationship, for the second time in my life I decide to cut all bonds with someone that I thought was a friend and I don't regret it, it might sound like I didn't care, I try to help my friends however I can, my friends are one of the most important thing in my life, and thats why I don't have that many friends, I prefer to have a few friends and have a good relationship with them than be surrounded by a bunch of people that I really don't know and don't know me. And to think that it all started with a silly joke I made.

Well that is life for you, one simple event of no importance can change your life in a matter of seconds.

Social Necrosis

By definition Necrosis refers to the premature death of cells and living tissue, I don't know if the term "Social Necrosis" exist, but today I noticed that the new Yellow Pages were home, at first I didn't noticed anything wrong with it, I haven't used it for a long time, and didn't took the time to watch it close.

Later today I grabbed it to move it from a table and noticed that it was rather light, it was a surprise that it was like 1/2 the size of what I remember.
This is how I remember I held past books
When I noted this I asked my sister if she noticed it and asked me if I had checked it, more specifically she told me to check the coupons section, we never use these coupons, we always forget about them, but she insisted on that.
Well, I checked the coupon section and found this.
I can't really understand what are this coupons for, they make no sense

It was just 1 page filled with coupons that didn't make sense, or at least I wasn't able to understand them, and also 2 coupons for Harman Hall, I suppose that they are so you can learn another language and get the hell out of here.

What I want to say with all of this, is that when I noticed the size of the yellow pages is that many business have closed either because they went out of business or because of extortions, for the last years I suppose that all of us have heard and even seen that many business are no longer there, but, at least in my case, I never thought of the size of the problem because in my family there have not been problems of that kind, just once, one intent of extortion, but my mom, who answered the phone, just ignored it and changed our phone, but nothing more.
I had heard people saying and speculating about how bad was business in Juarez, but it was that, speculation. And many friends from school that had economical problems, or had received threats, and even worse things.

Maybe I am exaggerating things, but it really hit me when I saw that this book was half of what it used to be, I felt like this is the representation of how much has this city suffered economically, and since I am in contact with the health sector because of the courses I have taken and my meetings with the college of psychologists, I know that the mental health of most people in here is going down, but that's another story.

You got mail...

Ok, I have never heard that one, so I don't know if that sound from tv shows or movies is real, well not the point :P

Today I received an email confirmation to a seminar by the name of "professional training of internal trainers" or something like that. The call was made this Monday in the morning and it was restricted to 18 members of the institute I am part of, at first I had doubts to sign for it, thought that there might be more suitable members for it, but then I realized that I had nothing to loose and everything to win and I send a letter, after almost 3 days I received a confirmation and I was happy for various reasons. The main one is that I didn't let my insecurity control my decisions.

In other news, today I spent all morning cleaning my house, a friend and I made plans for today, we wanted to bake some cake and watch a movie (Moon), we met at 4:30 and got to my house between 5:30 and 6:00, we went to the mall to buy some things that I didn't had for the cake. Since she had to go like 9:30 we didn't had the chance to watch the movie D:, but the cake was awesome. We tried to watch another movie, and since my brother have some movies from Chaplin I thought that would be great, but  we didn't finish it either. We had to stop the movie to finish the cake.

E3 roundup

E3's main events events are finally over and I must say that it was better than what I was expecting.
To resume, there were some things that surprised me, some games looked pretty good, but I won't talk about the games in this post.

Microsoft's Xbox-360 will integrate Voice Commands to the system, it will work in games and browser, like it is shown in the link. There were some games (like Fable) that will work with the Kinect and are looking good, I still don't like it that much though :P

Sony got some interesting news, one of them is that they will release a PlayStation brand 3D T.V., it will be 24 inches screen with full HD 1080p, but what is so special about this display? It will not only be 3D, it will have a special feature for co-op gaming, instead of dividing the screen in two it will deliver individual screens to each gamer via 3D effects.

Sony also spoke about their new handheld, the PlayStation Vita (a.k.a NGP), the successor of the PSP, and it looks awesome, it has touchscreen and a touch pad in the back of the system, it has dual cameras (like the DSi), it's graphics look good too, as well as the gameplay, they put the price tag at the conference and for the things it have is cheap, 250 bucks (the Wi-Fi version) and 300 bucks (the 3G+Wi-Fi version) (I read that sony expects to start making a profit from it in 3 years after its release).

From Nintendo they revealed the controller for their new system... yes only the controller, never did they speak of the system itself, but that's cool, they showed what matters the most, and that is how do you play with it. The new Nintendo system will be named Wii U (really lame name :P). The controller looks pretty weird, it looks like a tablet. It has a 6 inches touchscreen with buttons at its side and in the back.

It can be used to play directly to the screen in the controller (you know, kicks you of the tv room) and in some other ways, like the ones shown in the video.

All in all, it was a good show, the thing that got me more interested is the NGP PS Vita and some games. Now waiting for the Blizzcon in October and hoping for news of Diablo III and more of Starcraft II Hearth of the Swarm.

Dihydrogen monoxide...

...a chemical commonly known as water, can be your best friend in situations were the temperature is just... to damn high, lol.

Dihydrogen monoxide in its liquid form

June is just starting and I already hate it, water might help to maintain hydrated , but there are times when it just wont quench your thirst, and since they don't sell Brawndo, the thirst mutilator (It's got electrolytes!!), I have to resort to other ways to refresh myself :P

What other ways are these? Well... I for one love watermelon, one of my favorite fruits, and since it is like 90% water it is a natural thirst quencher. And taste awesome too. Either a big slice of watermelon, or a big glass of watermelon juice or "agua de sandía" are one of the best things to enjoy in the summer. So the last 3 days I have been eating watermelon at least twice a day and I've been loving it.
Isn't this just... beautiful?

E3

Finally this week is the E3, and this year looks pretty interesting with two new consoles, Sony's NGP and Nintendo's  Project Cafe. For me these are the main attractions, there are some games that I would like to know more about that are being shown at this convention like Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite, Batman: Arkham Citty, Zelda Skyward Sword. There might be some more games, but this are the ones I remember right now.
And thank science for broadband connection because I will try watch the main conferences (Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft) in live broadcast (if I can :P).

Shellfish allergy...

So, today a couple of friends and I went to Kinsui to eat sushi (well, we went to another restaurant first, but it was too full to have a good conversation), first time I went there, usually when I eat sushi my brother brings it from Katsura (the restaurant we went first) since it is close to were he works, the menu looked pretty good and I'd love to taste them all, but I have this little problem. Every time I eat shrimp I get an allergic reaction, a mild one, but an allergic reaction nonetheless, the problem was that almost 1/3 of the menu had some, and I had to skip all of that, and since were sharing our sushi rolls so the three of us could have some variety they skipped them too :'( they are awesome.

I have been getting this reaction for not more than 4 years now, and it really is bothersome to not have the option of eating something you like. Well, at least its not as bad as when my sister was allergic to avocados, the only thing worse than not having the option of eat something you like is not having the option of eating something you love.

I also ordered some Yakimeshi and I was surprised that the flavor was so close to the one I do, it had better presentation, but the flavor wasn't that far away, either theirs isn't that good, or mine is awesome, I prefer the second option. :P

Dual wielding tacos

Today was a long day, I overslept a little and didn't had a chance to eat anything for breakfast in the morning other than 2 glasses of water, fortunately I got to my course just in time, there the only thing I had for breakfast was 2 cups of coffee and 4 cookies, small cookies though D:
After the course I went to my house to leave my laptop and got out again quick, I only had time to eat a tamarindo candy and again 2 big glasses of water. Went with Sergio and another friend to the movies and even though I was hungry I didn't want popcorn, I wanted something else to eat.

After the movie was over I wanted to go an buy something to eat but there was nothing interesting there, so I got into an smart and just bought a honey bun and a coke, that would last me until I got home, and it did, but after getting home I found there was nothing prepared to eat and I was tired to prepare anything, but then I found that there were still two tacos at the table.
I got them (both at the same time) and at that moment my dad came down to the dinning room and just stared at me while I was holding them (I suppose he was saving them for later), and I gave a bite to the one in my right hand slowly, and then did the same with the one in my left hand while staring at mi dad, he just starts to laugh and told me that that remind him when I was little, then he just went to the kitchen for some water :P

He didn't tell me anything about the tacos, but I'm pretty sure he wanted them :P

Really tough day, I'll go to sleep early today

There are more ministers than adult Gamers...

Today I went to the first class of two training courses called "Violencia en el ámbito familiar y manejo interdisciplinario de las adicciones" and since we had to work in teams we had to introduce ourselves with the group, we were no more than 60 people in total. It took like half an hour to introduce ourselves and one of the things one of the trainers wanted to know in our introduction was our hobbies and our job.

It surprised me that one of the first guys to introduce himself said that he liked to play video games, and soon after another one said too, in total four of us said that we liked playing games as a hobby, all good and all, almost at the end of the introductions some old dudes (most of them were more than 50 years old) started to say that they where ministers of local churches and serve various institutions related to addictions, that group consisted of 7 or 8 people (hence my title :P), but they weren't from the same institution, although they were from the same region of Juarez (I think it was Anapra and nearby places, can't remember well).

One cool think from the expositor is that she mocked the power of praying against medicaments, emphasizing the importance of medical treatment in the treatment of addictions, it almost made me laugh, but it wasn't the place nor time.

Subbtitles

So, Sergio, Mari, Cesar** (edited because I can't even remember a name :P) and I went to the movies today, the movie we choose had subtitles and the audio was in English, and the reason for that (at least for me and I know that Sergio thinks the same way) is because we enjoy movies much more with the original audio rather than a dub, now, I know that there are some good dubs there (Pixar for example makes a pretty good job with this), but most of the time they change the dialogs to make them fit with the lips movement and the dialog can get a little different from what was intended.

Some time ago, I decided to watch things with their original audio and subtitles if needed and when it was possible (Chinese or Japanese movies for example, I prefer them in their languages and subtitles in English, rather than translated to English or Spanish), most of the times I understand English pretty well, but it can be the other way around, there are some accents that I have a hard time understanding, hell, I even have a hard time understanding Spanish :P

The reason for writing about this was that the movie we got to see started with some dialogues in Spanish and I was like wtf is happening? Didn't we choose this in English? And I’m almost sure Sergio was getting a little pissed off, as well as many people in the theater, but it was that, just some dialogue in Spanish at the start of the movie that confused us, after that it was in English (with some Spanish from time to time).
