This past months I have been feeling a little tired, sometimes physically, others mentally. Several months ago I didn't have a problem working when I was tired since I would just drink something to give me that energy boost and then recuperate with some sleep, but back when I started working out seriously I stopped drinking coke, and I have never been fond of energy drinks, and I try to use the minimum sugar I can in coffee and teas, so I no longer have that either.
I remember a "smoothie" that I used to drink when I started college, it was cucumber, bell pepper, celery or something like that, it was weird, didn't taste awful, but it wasn't good either, but damn, it worked, but I don't know if it was real or just a placebo.
The only thing that I have found is to stand up and walk a little or getting distracted for a few minutes, but still it doesn't beat sugared beverages or caffeine. So yeah, I have been in need of an energy boost that isn't sugar/caffeine based.
how about a green smoothie? i guess it has sugar from the fruits....but eating fruits is good! spinach + banana (better if it's frozen) + berries (whichever kind) + flax meal + water/milk(chuy likes soymilk, i like water)...drinking that always gave me an energy boost....and you can do many variations from the basic one so you dont get bored
ReplyDeleteIt sounds awesome, I'll try it when I have the chance, and since it is already getting very hot in here, I'll start preparing smoothies XD
DeleteYeah, green smoothies are awesome :) But yeah, pecans, peanuts, almonds, should help too, although not in the same way as caffeine, unfortunately.
ReplyDeletealso, are you avoid coffee because of the sugar? if so, you could just take an espresso shot and be done with it haha
ReplyDeleteGo back to coke! :P jk, i agree with cheli.. green smoothies!
ReplyDeleteLol, never... some day... but only when I'm playing a marathon of video games, nothing less than 12 straight hours, and I'll probably die that day XD
