Feast...

Today was Christmas eve and as tradition marks in my house my mom and I cooked, she made some tamales, pasta and mashed potatoes, I made some garlic and paprika bread, cookies and prepared the turkey (even though turkey isn't tradition here :P), it took us all day to prepare everything but it was worth it, i'll post some pictures tomorrow. We had a great time and the food was freaking good.

New life...

My laptop just received a new battery, the old one I had was only working at 30% of its original capacity (or at least that's what Ubuntu said :P) and it sucked because I couldn't use it  anywhere without risking it just shutting down without the charger. I upgraded the RAM to 4GB (up from 3GB) and even if it isn't that much of a difference it does feel a little better.

First step...

My main problem to start anything is always to take the first step, even if  I want to learn/do something, at least I feel this way, most of the times I have no problem starting something new, but start something similar to something I already know? I have a little problem to start something if I don't have or need to do it, and since this isn't needed for the moment (maybe later it will), I had a little trouble, but I want to learn it, this and many other things.

Today I started to read a book of Python that I have been wanting to read for a few weeks already but I just didn't had the motivation to start, specially since it is like 600 pages long, I felt that it would take way too much time. But I started to read it and I am already at page 70, so that is a little more than 10% in one day, if I keep reading at the same pace I might even finish it before this year is over, and I actually didn't read that much today, I watched some movies with my family and finished Orcs Must Die (at least normal difficulty).

Today I saw something that made me freak out a little, well, not, just kidding, but it made me think. I was on my way to my house and I saw this ambulance, there were some people collecting money, at first I thought it was from the red cross or something like that, but this ambulance had a certain logo that I recognized easily, it was the umbrella corporation logo (from resident evil), I thought that it might only be a coincidence, but in the front of the ambulance it actually said Umbrella Corporation.

So, with this info I can deduce 2 things, that someone scammed us really good, or...  that Umbrella is real and we are fucked up and they are developing the T virus here in Juarez!!!!!!!

Or maybe something else that I am not informed, but why would they use the logo and name from a company from a video game?

Being polite???

Since I work directly with people I can't say or do things the way I would normally do, I have to be polite (almost) all the time, unless I am given the chance to not be, ok, so here is my dilemma, I had a new patient today, well the mom of a new patient, and she had a horrible breath, not like 'you just ate something and didn't brush your teeth', but more like a 'you should probably see a dentist' kind of smell.

For little less than an hour I had to endure that smell and I couldn't say a thing because I didn't have anything to offer (gum or mints) for the bad breath, but how should I point it out to this person, I am not saying that I have the best of breaths, but I try to brush my teeth regularly and if I can't at least have some mouthwash or mints, or just go out with my garlic and/or onions smell, maybe someone will like it (just joking :P).

But seriously, what can I do in a situation like this? Should I endure the smell? Directly point it out? Discretely offer a gum/mint?

Orcs Must Die!!!!

So, I have been playing some of the games that I have on steam that I have not played before, one of them is Orcs Must Die and I am loving it, it is a strategy tower defense game in which you are a war mage tasked to prevent a horde of orcs from reaching a rift that lead to the world, so far all the levels are held in fortress type levels, not on the open world.

The main mechanics of the game to prevent the orcs from reaching their goal are the use of weapons, spells and set traps, the main goal of each level is to set up the traps in a manner in which you don't have to kill them all with the weapons and spells since you can loose all your mana with the spells and the weapons aren't that effective at killing them all, that's why it is an strategy game.

I have only played this game for a good 2 hours but I like it very much, I haven't had this much fun in a long time.

I was going to upload a video of me playing, but the raw video was over 2 GB and I don't have the time to re-code and upload it, so I'll use one that I found on youtube :P, maybe later I'll upload some videos of the games that I am playing now.

Vacations...

Even though I am not on vacations officially I have been spending more time with my family, watching movies, going out, cleaning the house, even watch them put the Christmas tree (yeah, I only watched, my mom and sisters know how to decorate it). The only thing I am missing this season are some tamales :/, but maybe tomorrow my mom (and maybe me too) will do some. And finally this Wednesday I'll be on vacations from CAPSIC, not from Hitosoft, I work when I want there and I'm loving what I'm doing right now :P

Craving...

Today I had this craving for coffee, though not a normal coffee, I wanted something different, something minty, I didn't have mint essence or liquor but I had some tea, so I prepared some mint tea and prepared the coffee with the tea instead of normal water, it was pretty good, but not as good as others I have tasted :P.

Alone in the dark...

If there is something I hate around this time of the year is that it turns night so early, I went to Capsic at around 4 pm and there was barely any sun left, I was on my way home like 7 pm and I had to do a 20 minute walk along a somewhat busy street, not a main street, but busy enough to get some cars at least every minute or so. So, I was walking down this street and I could barely see in front of me, there weren't street lights, just one or two in the whole trip and some from outside some houses.

That sucked, I had to walk with some caution because the streets aren't in good shape, they have bumps, rocks, dirt and crushed stones (I could slip), etc. That, and people walking from time to time, and I don't mind the people that much, but there were some cholo looking guys, so I better be careful, I don't want to be surprised so I try to maintain my distance and when ever they pass me I would turn back just to check no one is following me (yeah, somewhat paranoiac, but you would understand if you lived here :P). Oh well, this is the little city where I live, I have to put with this kind of things until I get a car.

???

I was thinking on what to write and I had to question myself, what did I do today? Well, today I think I did nothing... Well, not really, I just realized that I took the day off and did almost nothing work related... but then, what did I do? Who knows :P

I remember that I played like an hour in the morning some Super Meat Boy (awesome game btw), then I got to my parents home and ate breakfast, I had to get some money from the bank to ask Sergio for a few things I had to buy from Amazon so I now realize that I spent some time outside with my family, we went to the mall just to hang around.

We came home and my sisters and mom were watching some t.v. show or a movie, I don't know, and me and my dad were talking/discussing/debating or something along the lines and we got kick out of the living room and went outside to our backyard, the weather was awesome and we stayed there at least 2 hours. We had a pretty good discussion, then we got inside and I had to go since I made plans to eat out with Sergio, we didn't, we ended at the movies and it was cool.

And right at this moment I realize that I did some things this day, all of that and I watched like 4 or 5 episodes of scrubs through out the day (and I don't know if I am going to watch one before going to sleep :P)

LWE...

...LWE stands for Longest Weekend Ever, which is what I feels just happened last week, I haven't posted since the last Thursday, that day I came home after a loooooooooooooooooong day, I went out in the morning to eat breakfast with my Friend Michelle, we had a great time, and after that when I was on my way home I came across with another friend (and her friends) with whom I spent all the afternoon, and since she was from the "Colegio de Psicólogos" and that day was our meeting and she lived closer to it we decided to go to eat at her house and then to our meeting.

Some other friends ended coming to my friends house, and since they were from the same school I knew at least one of them, and they knew my brother too, we had a lot of fun just hanging around there and chatting, but we had to go to our meeting, well, I :P, my friend decided not to go since the main topic that day was the "Posada del Colegio", I got there a little late, and then my dad came to pick me up since there are no buses that go to my house at that hour. Ate something at my house, pulled a Sergio and fell sleep.

Friday, in the morning I had to work for Hitosoft in the morning and prepare something for my patient from that day, I spent all the morning doing that and then went to eat to my house before going to CAPSIC, saw my patient, everything ok, got to the Hitosoft office and worked there till 10 I think, got home, I had a discussion (not fighting, we were discussing something) and after that I was just tired and went to sleep, I watched some scrubs before that, but I wasn't paying attention and just closed the lid of my laptop and died there.

Saturday, in the morning I worked a little and then went to meet my first accountant, before this I thought I would have to pay a fine since I got paid the first of november (I used my honorary receipt that day :P) and I had to do my tax filing the 17's of each month, but she explained to me that it is from next month, so I am safe, woot.

After that I went to my home again and worked a little (for Hitosoft) since I had nothing else to do before going to the "posada" which was today at 8 pm. The "posada" was at an applebees and not too many people went, we where just like 30 or a little more, but it was great, nothing much happened here other than having a great time, I got home late and just died on the bed, I just checked my mail to see if my meeting from Hitosoft haven't been cancelled and that was it.

Sunday, I woke up early and worked just a little before going to my parents house and eat some fantastic Menudo my mom prepared, it was so damn good I had to repeat :P, then I went to my meeting and we were only preparing things we have to do for the next weeks for a project since some of us will have vacations and we won't be able to get together to work unless we do it online.

After that meeting I got home and I was fine, just a little tired, eat something and I was actually prepared to do nothing other than watch movies, series and play video-games, and I did, well, I didn't watched any movie, but I watched scrubs, and played The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy and Bastion, freaking great games, all of them, but as the day continued I started to get sick.

For almost all week I have been coughing, but just once or twice every hour, nothing serious, every year I get this but I rarely get worse, well, I should probably have done something, I got so sick that night and was coughing so bad I wasn't able to sleep well.

Monday I called to say that I would not be able to go to CAPSIC, I was going to, but in the condition I was it would only be trouble, and I could spread my disease, so I stayed home and I feel like I did almost nothing all day, but I did work a little in the morning before I was going to go to CAPSIC, then nothing, just played some Bastion (I'll make a blog for this game later :P) and went to the doctor.

It seems that I have Bronquitis (first time I feel this bad), my back and chest hurts from coughing, same with my head and my limbs are week, its hard to breathe, dammit, I hate been sick. Still, that doesn't stop me :P, after getting to the doctor (that was around 3 pm), the good part of my work at Hitosoft is that I can work anywhere anytime and I worked for just a little, played Bastion again and in the night I prepared some Shortbread Cookies for my house and some for my friend Michelle since she will be traveling and wont be back till next year :P.

Well, so far that is all I have done since I stopped posting, today I still don't feel well, but i'll try to post about that this night.

Tired...

...So tired right now, i'll update this tomorrow, i'm pulling a Sergio right now :P

Where to go?

Sergio, our friends and I always have this problem deciding where to go, we never know of a place where we could feel comfortable or at least I feel limited to go to the movies our to play pool, which I love, but there should be other places we could go. I like to go to cafes, but with Sergio it just feels weird, well not really, but he doesn't like coffee that much as to go to a place like that, and neither of us drink so bars are out too.

Well, actually today Sergio and I went to a cafe just hang out and it was ok, he had an smoothie and I had a frappuccino with Irish cream and it was great, and some nachos too. This was something new with Sergio :P, though we both had gone to cafes by ourselves or other friends this is the first time that we go.

Responsibility...

Because of the cold weather in the morning I wanted to skip my job at CAPSIC today, call and say that I wouldn't be able to make it, I don't know, use any excuse and try to re-schedule my patient from today to another day, had it been my last job I would just skipped the day and not give a damn (except for the money :P), but with this job I have more responsibilities and I can't do this kind of things, if I'm going to skip work I better have a real reason, not just because I am lazy and/or feel cold :P.

On other news, I just watched the first episode of Breaking Bad and at first it didn't appeal to me, but I finished watching it and I did like it, though, just yesterday I watched a Scrubs video that was on my youtube account recommendations and it made me want to watch that series again, and now I don't know if I should watch Breaking Bad or Scrubs first

Cancelled...

Today, after waiting almost all day at CAPSIC for a meeting we where supposed to have, it got canceled, the meeting was at 7 and I was waiting there till 6 before it got cancelled. I was a little pissed and a little happy for that, I suppose that I was more happy than pissed since it was so cold and I only wanted to go to my house, but still, I could have been there much more early.

Success...

After 2 days of trying to run Mac OS on my computer in a virtual machine I finally succeeded, so now I can work in Windows, Ubuntu and Mac in my laptop, though, mac is in a virtual machine and not installed in the hard drive, so far I can't really say that I like it or dislike it, I haven't seen anything special about it except for the menu bar, right now I am downloading xcode but it will take all the night since it weights 4.14 GB :/
So, maybe over the week I'll test it

Publish...

I forgot to press that button yesterday, dammit, I wrote something else, but failed to publish it, I was installing some programs in my sisters laptop and left this one besides the bed with the lid closed and blogger open >.<

Today after I got home one of my sisters was watching tv and I don't know if it was commercial or a show or whatever, but they played certain song, I was at the table and started following it and it only made me want to watch the movie that featured it, I'll try to watch it tomorrow on netflix, I put it on my queue so I don't forget, this is the song I am talking about:
