Portal 2

So finally Sergio and I started playing Portal 2 in co-op and so far so good, the only problem we have had was when the puzzles were easy (we overthing too much sometimes -.-), but the hard ones have been easy. We work like a team so well that it sometimes scares me.
I forgot to take snapshots while playing, but this is something I would do to Sergio :P

We didn't had that much time to play, but I at least felt that we were progressing at a good pace and didn't had to communicate that much to know what we both should do, and sometimes we thought of the same solutions at the same time (that really scared me).

Atlas and P-body, the main characters of the Co-op

Luckily we will record some of our progress next time and upload it.
This doesn't look totally gay... >_>

Chrono Trigger

This is yet another post about video games, today i'll start playing Chrono Trigger after so many years of beating it, it is considered one of the best RPG of all times, and even though I do not remember much about this game other than I really loved the history and the time travel (who doesn't love that?) i'm still looking at having a great time whit it.

Art

I had to go to one if my meetings this afternoon, and while I was on my way I crossed this particular place in Juarez (near Plaza de las Americas) that has a weird thing, I don't know what it is or what its supposed to represent and I decided to take some pictures with my cellphone, behind it was a memorial for the ex mayor from 1980-1983.

I don't frequent this part of the city, but I have known about that thing for more than 6 years and this is the first time I decide to stop and take a look,  it doesn't have a description or anything so there is no explanation of what it is or whatever. There should be something to explain what this is or why is it there, but the only thing that I found was this:

I really don't like that this city has almost nothing of culture, but I have to admit that it is not as bad as it used to be, at least now we have the "Centro Cultural Paso del Norte". And sometimes they have good events.

Ok, this last image doesn't have anything to do with the others, but I like it :P

Glasses

For the last 8 months I have been using Glasses all day long, except while I shower or sleep. Well, that was until the day I quit my job, since then I always forget to put them. I like to see clear, but since my problem is only with things that are far away and I spend most of my day doing things in which I don't need them I always forget about them.

.
..If i'm at my computer or reading or anything else where I don't need to see things far away my glasses hinders my view and sometimes can cause me a little headache, thats another reason I don't use them that much.

I have been "using" glasses since I was 14 but only when needed (meaning while i'm at school >.> and only if i'm paying attention : P). But only 8 months ago I started using them almost all day, damn, in almost 8 years I have had glasses, never had I used them for so long.

Well, at least I can give them a good use while playing pool... if only I didn't suck so bad at it >.>

:D

Ok, so I didn't do anything interesting today other than roam my parents house while recoding some videos to make the video I promised.
Since recoding can takes some considerable time I decided to go for a snack, and I found some Avocados.
Damn, I missed these suckers, not that I didn't eat any while I was living with Sergio, but I didn't had the opportunity to just eat one good old fashioned taco de aguacate (or guacamole), damn I love these things.

I was going to post about something else, and to do it I needed something that I have stored in photobucket, when I wanted to login I couldn't remember my password (well which one of the various i have) and noticed that it had a little button that said "login with facebook", so I clicked it and it logged me instantaneously.

Cool, I knew that youtube does the same thing with gmail, and have used it before, that way I don't need to type everything again, well it's only like 10 seconds, so no big deal.

Well, I don't know where I wanted to get with this... just that it is a cool feature, so nothing else... i'm getting sleepy >.> and out of ideas. Tomorrow i'll try to do better :P

Cables...

Here I was in my brothers desk with my laptop, looking to move some files from my hard disk to my external hard disk to have more space in my computer (again it was getting full :/),  everything looks fine, I connect the usb to my computer, connect the power source cable to the hard disk, everything is still fine, but when I try to connect it to the power sockets I cant see anything free, so I decided to accommodate them and have space for my hard disk.
OK, so what i needed at first was to accommodate the cables in the back of my brothers computer, easy task... well thats what I thought at first, it took me more than half an hour to untangle the cables and make them fit into the sockets and have space for my hard disk and laptop.

lol, How can some cables that are barely moved get so tangled?  I'm sure that if anyone wanted to do something like that it wouldn't be so easy :P

sorry, no pics for this entry, i forgot to take some D:

Saturday Night...

So, here I am, it is Saturday night and I am still waiting to see if this anime I watch every Saturday night or Sunday morning gets uploaded, some years ago I was a big fan of anime and watched many when I had the time, but some time ago I decided to stop watching most of them. Except this one that I watch every weekend if it is uploaded.

What anime is this? One Piece, the only anime I find worth watching right now (after full metal alchemist finished). I know there must be more good animes and maybe even better, but I can't start watching anything else, specially if it isn't a short one (between 20 or 60 episodes), 100 episodes or more are too much to even care right now :P (there are 495 of One Piece right now), this one I started watching it like 2 or 3 years ago after my brother told me it was pretty good.

Since I had already watched this one in fox when i was still little I despised it because it looked very stupid and the voices where worse. after my brother told me and since he had already watched like 200 episodes I gave it a  chance.

The first seasons looked to childish, but the voices and emotions of the characters where really improved with the original voices, and other thing i loved was the fact that it matured over time, the characters I see in the current episodes are nothing like the ones 200 or 300 episodes before, and still they conserve the essence that made One Piece One piece.

All in all, it's a great story and anime and I love it, but would never do what I did with this (watch more than 300 episodes in less than a month) again with any other anime. I hate it at first (I mainly blame dubbing and censorship in the US for this)  but learned to love it.

Gaming Mouse

Logitech MX518
Continuing with the video games theme id like to introduce my Gaming Mouse, it's simple compared to newer ones, but it had the buttons that I needed when I bought it, I wanted to raid seriously in World of Warcraft and a Gaming Mouse was a big upgrade to get better at the role I was going to play, but due to personal reasons I decided to leave the game for now. Maybe i'll return maybe not, I still don't know.
But if I return to this game i'll be buying this other mouse or something as good as this :P to play competitively with a Progression Raiding Guild and/or Player vs Player.

Magicka

So i'll join the video games bandwagon, this week Sergio gifted me Magicka (thanks man :P), a fantasy action-adventure game with very unique mechanics (at least i have never seen anything like this), you are a mage that has control over 8 elements (Water, Life, Shield, Cold, Lighting, Arcane, Earth and Fire), and all the combinations you can make with them.
Lighting + soaked enemy = instant kill >:D
Other thing that i like about this game is the characters, specially your mentor Vlad, i love the way he always tries to convince you that he is not a vampire :P, and the almost obvious references to other fantasy themed histories (for example the staff of the white wizard or Excalibur). And the fact that you can use a M60 machine gun or an AK47.

This game can be played online and for what i have seen is can be pretty chaotic and entertaining.
Useful tips from the creator of the game :P
All in all, it is a pretty cool game and very unique.

Knives

Say hello to my little friends (lol, i had to do this XD), as i have said before i love cooking, and one of the things i enjoy the most while cooking is using my knives, from just peeling a potato to finely chop onions or garlic to slice a nice piece of whatever i may have in hand, using them just makes me relax.

Other thing i enjoy is sharpening them, there's nothing more frustrating for me while preparing food than a dull knife so i often sharpen them, of course theres a risk to that and i have cut myself by accident a few times :P but nothing serious.

Scoville scale

Today my father bought a Habanero pepper plant, as far as i remember this is the hottest pepper i have ever tasted, at least in a salsa (2 peppers and more than 12 tomatoes and it still was almost unbearable).
One of these beats is enough to make grown men or women cry and is considered one of the hottest peppers in america, and sometimes referred to as the hottest in the world (wish is not, that title belongs to the Naga Viper Pepper).

I'll be looking forward eating a good Habanero salsa in my parents house when they mature :D.

Movies

This afternoon Sergio, a friend and I went to watch a movie, it was "Salvando al Soldado Perez", i'm no fan of Mexican movies, but i have to say that it was pretty damn good, at least for what i expected, it didn't had that feeling that most Mexican movies have most of the times, i really enjoyed this movie, and so far this is only the third movie i like and would recommend, at least to have a good laugh, the other two being "Matando Cabos" and "El Estudiante".

Alternative Medicine...

So, today i had a meeting with the college of psychologists and in one of the topics the president mentions is about a medical exhibition in wish different colleges, schools and specialists were invited, she explained that it was divided in 3 groups, medicine, psychology and alternative medicine... the president and other colleagues that assisted told that there they had things like aromatherapy, massage, music therapy, Homeopathy and Bioenergetics, to name a few.

The bad part was that the alternative medicine had way too much space compared to the other two, and that the organizers gave it the spotlight in the event and people were all over it, it really makes me sad how these people can believe in alternative medicine so blindly even when, and quoting Tim Minchin, "alternative medicine has either not been proved to work, or it has been proved not to work", as far as i know the little success that alternative medicine has can be attributed to the placebo effect rather than the treatment.
I was really pissed when they shared that little anecdote, the good part is that at least they had some people really interested in the info they were giving about the d
ifferent institutions that we work with, and that psychology doesn't have the same stigma it had a few years ago :)

Half Life 2

So, just a few minutes ago i finally finished Half Life 2 episode 2, even though i haven't been playing video games that much for the las few months (at least not as much as i used to XD), and since i stopped playing WoW after 3 years, it is one of the first games that i finish in the last year (while not playing WoW at the same time).
So i had to leave my mark (yeah, my friends call me Tenampa :P) just before i finished it, waiting for HL 2 episode 3 :D

And also, i couldn't leave this out, i love this kind of details in games, this battle diagram made me lol really hard XD

Podcasts...

So, i never tried podcasts until a few weeks ago, i thought that i wouldn't like them because i have always preferred to read instead of hearing (or rather hear something else while reading), even in school, but since i didn't had that much time thanks to work, i decided to give them a try and listen to something entertaining, how wrong was i for thinking that it would be boring, at first i started downloading some podcasts from Thethinkingatheist, wish were really nice, started hearing the first 1 and when i realized, i had already heard like 5 or 6 podcasts (more than an hour long each) without pause between them, it felt very nice, in 2 days i had already heard everything they had, so i decided to download from other sources, and i thought of downloading something that i could take more advantage for me and my career, and so the googling of psychology podcasts begun, after a little more than one hour i found 3 really nice and respected podcasting sites, it feels nice hearing from professionals that are up to date in their field and want to share with others their work and investigations. It is really amazing, all the info one can get these days from just a few clicks XD
